Volume 1 of the Journal of Discourses. The opening volume of the celebrated 26-volume Liverpool series, gathering early sermons of Brigham Young, his counselors, and the Twelve Apostles taken down in shorthand by Young’s stenographer, George D. Watt. Published in 1854 with the approval of the First Presidency, it set the pattern for one of the richest sources of early Latter-day Saint teaching; Brigham Young personally edited his own discourses for this first volume.
